…was about to leave the boat to head into town when the Must-Do notebook fell open to a page with three quotes:
“Just for today, make the music that is your art, that makes you want to dance.”
—Luann Udel—It stopped me from leaving for anywhere.
“Pay exquisite attention to what makes your flame grow brighter"
—Nina Simons--
Posting to my website’s blog used to make my flame grow bright. Every day for the last six weeks I’ve planned to resume posting, have collected quotes, photos, made notes. Then nothing more.
“Don't forget to notice the collateral beauty."
—Helen Mirren, as Death in Collateral Beauty—
Yes. Plenty of notes from the movie, Collateral Beauty, had been intended as a closure post about grief's unexpected charity, but in the blunt demand to define what makes my flame grow brighter I realized it was the recent art of sculpting a lamp base for Pilar’s bathroom fixture, and the completion of two copper pads for the skylight lifts, not the collateral beauty post that leapt up to answer...just like a kid in the back row waving her hand, straining...ME! ...additionally, a delightfully functional, flexible student lamp to be mounted on the underside of the deck, is currently mocked up against the bunk for use until custom fittings are sketched and machined:

“Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing. Making your unknown known is the important thing.”
– Georgia O’Keeffe --

I can always open a can of corn if I ever feel anything so mundane as hunger again.
