Before heading home to PILAR, Bill and I would sit on the front porch of the house we'd initially rented just to have a place to do work needed to maintain our boat...although it soon became primarily the One Candle Schoolhouse, filling our days with projects for the next seven years. At the end of our days spent working there, we'd pull our chairs close together, have a glass of wine, talk about the day's high/low points and, facing the lowering sun, we'd watch it set on the Philippine sea life surrounding us.
One particularly glorious evening before he'd passed on, Bill captured the sunset for me within the shell he held. The golden light passed, translucent, though his hand.
