Life As A Work of Art

Luann Udell, another FASO artist recently introduced Nick Wignall in a post, which I followed and now receive a weekly newsletter from his site.  Because I have long seen our lives as works of art, this particular passage in today's post resonated by providing a much needed support for my continuing lack of posts:

The envisioned follow up to Watching Yeast Bloom has been supplanted by an unexpected opportunity to not only reinstall PILAR's two masts but also to do a major job stripping and painting her bottom...hauling her out of the water, onto the beach.  This is strictly a 'do-it-yourself' job and fraught with major anxiety-producing tasks to make it happen.  Right now, the typhoon passing makes the success of this week's endeavor iffy. Will post again when there is time to take a breath but Nick Wignall's observations on Svend Brinkmann's book, The Joy of Missing Out, explain where my focus and life art lie at this time. And always.

"Talking to yourself can be useful. And writing means being overheard."
--Zadie Smith--

ahh...but as Thomas Mann said,

"Speech is civilization itself.
The word, even the most contradictory word, preserves contact
-- it is silence which isolates.
